What a guy!

The President has been amazing in his unwavering stance on Iraq. With polls down in the 30's, he’s persevered and never once put his finger in the air. Gamecock on the President's perseverance

If Democrats had their way, we would cut and run anytime the going gets tough. They are doing everything in their power to lose in Iraq and abandon our commitment to the Iraqis, just like they have done before. What the Democrats never counted on was a President that won’t waver no matter how many lies they tell or how many resolutions they pass. He isn’t afraid to do the right thing.

The surge seems to be working and the Iraqis are beginning to realize that they can count on this President, at least for the next year and a half. The morale boost of winning the soccer tournament yesterday, along with the commitment of our President and our great troops, could just turn things around for them.

The Democrats have no faith in our military or the people of this country. They think that with their sidekick, the MSM, and with lie after lie, that Americans will turn their backs on a new Democracy and allow Al Qaeda to take it over. Something is standing in their way, George W. Bush.

God bless America and our troops.

"No more enabling of dysfunction."

That is a quote from Senator Evan Bayh (D - IN) from one of the talk shows last Sunday.  He was talking about the Iraqi Congress.

I think that his words of admonition would better be applied to our new Congress.  In an event sponsored by the labor unions this past week, Pelosi and Reid celebrated their one accomplishment, the increase in the minimum wage. The Iraqi Congress accomplished 8 of their 18 goals, yet our dysfunctional Congress wants to pull the troops out of Iraq because they didn’t do better.  The irony is that our Congress cannot agree on anything, but expects a new democracy to perform better than they are!

Talk about dysfunction! The Democrat led Congress has begun over 300 investigations of the Bush Administration, and proudly announced yesterday that they have just begun. They are a Congress in search of a crime. I know that oversight is one of their duties, but give me a break!  We are a country at War and all they do is attack our war time President, trying to find illegalities in the programs that were set up to defend us from terrorists.

The hundreds of committee hearings that are going on daily are a waste of our tax dollars.  I say, let’s stop enabling this dysfunctional Congress.  Americans have proven that they have a voice.  Those voices spoke loudly over immigration.  Let’s tell our dysfunctional Congress to support our troops and to stop enabling our enemies!

America seems to be moving to the left.

The more conservatives try to push the country to the right, the more the people move to the left. The following article is pretty scary.  Cash and Democrats  Some excerpts:

"The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has a 10-1 cash advantage over its Republican adversary, and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee has a cash advantage that is three times greater than the National Republican Senatorial Committee's take.

In addition, the loss of control of Congress has stripped Republicans of one of their most lucrative fund raising assets: committee chairmanships. According to a Center for Inquiry study released last week, corporate donors have made a seismic shift since January toward the new Democratic chairmen. In the first six months of this year, political action committees donated $41 million to Democrats, compared with $24 million for Republicans. During the previous year, Republicans received $32 million in PAC contributions, compared with $22 million for the Democrats, the report concluded.

In the presidential field, the Democrats' two top candidates -- Sens. Barack Obama (Ill.) and Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) -- each have nearly as much money in the bank as the combined savings of the entire 2008 Republican field. The 10 Republicans running for president reported a combined total of $36 million cash on hand; Obama has $35 million and Clinton has $33 million available for the primary race."

Many in talk radio and on the blogs are not worried about the Democrats winning in ‘08.  Is anyone listening to what the left is saying?  Congress wants to censure Bush over the War in Iraq and his surveillance programs that have kept the country safe.  Under their leadership we will return to the pre 9/11 mentality.  They want to bring the troops home from Iraq in the next six months.

On the home front, they want to nationalize health care, legalize gay marriage, give terrorist’s the same rights as U. S. citizens, give illegals citizenship, not to mention the appointment of leftist judges to the courts.

A Republican minority will not be able to stop them, as some suggest.  I disagree with those who say that letting the left win will be good for America and for conservatism.  I just don’t see how that is supposed to work.

Cuba and Venezuela's Sicko Alliance

Story reported by Steve Harrigan on Fox News.

In a unique exchange program, Fidel Castro sends Cuban doctors to Venezuela and Hugo Chavez sends oil to Cuba.  The deal is supposed to highlight how the two allies are building socialism for the future, with free medical care for the poor.

There is one problem with this perfect set up.  The Cuban doctors are not staying put. Benny Alfonzo was one of them but is now safe in Miami.  He said: "Right now there are 20,000 Cuban doctors in Venezuela. How many would like to leave?  Every single one of them that gets the chance. I am sure of it.  The only ones who stay are the ones with small children back in Cuba who don’t want their families to be destroyed."

The first stop on the escape route is usually Colombia.  Currently as many as 500 Cuban doctors are in Bogota, hoping for a U. S. Visa.  The Cubans who try to cross the border face a huge risk. If they are caught, it could mean 25 years in a Cuban jail.  Those who have fled said that the Cuban government has been taking extreme measures.  Carlos, a Cuban Medical Technician who managed to escape, reported:  "They controlled our every move.  We were watched from the time we left our hotel in the morning to the time we got to work.  We were never allowed to go out alone.  To run an errand you always had to be with someone else."

Cuba has a tradition of sending it’s doctors overseas to do emergency relief.  But in recent years the practice has become a hard currency money maker for the government.  Camilla Ruiz Gallardo, of the Cuban American National Foundation, says:  "It is slave labor, by all definitions that’s what it is. They are confiscating their salaries, they are forcing them in many cases to go abroad."

In Cuba, these doctors earn about $15 per month, but at clinics in Venezuela they earn more than ten times that.  The down side is that 80% of their pay goes directly to the Cuban government.   A prime motivator they say to escape across the western border.

Michael Moore, in his movie "Sicko," promotes the idea of socialized medicine for America along the lines of the Cuban example.  He claims our system is too money ridden.  With the election of Hillary, could America get a Sicko plan all of her own?

Who is in it to win it?

President Bush in his speech yesterday made it clear that he is committed to fighting terror and winning in Iraq.  Our great troops are "in it to win it" in Iraq and giving their lives in larger numbers by going after the terrorists in the most dangerous areas of Iraq.

That’s about it.  The sad truth is that Americas are losing their will.  Congress yesterday passed a Resolution "to require the Secretary of Defense to commence the reduction of the number of United States Armed Forces in Iraq to a limited presence by April 1, 2008."  The Bill passed 223 - 201, with four Republican votes.

My question is, if we are losing why not bring the troops home right now?  Why advertise to the enemy that we will be packing and vacating the premises by April Fool’s day?  Why risk another soldier’s life if as Reid said yesterday, "the President needs to admit that his policy in Iraq has failed?"

The terrorists are "in it to win it!" They are planning and waiting...

President Bush vs. Senator Reid on Iraq.

In a news conference today, President Bush said the following:

"I’ve given our troops in Iraq clear objectives and as they risk their lives to achieve these objectives they need to know that they have the unwavering support of their Commander in Chief, and they do. And they need the enemy to know that America is not going to back down. So when I speak to the American people about Iraq I often emphasize the importance of maintaining our resolve and meeting our objectives.

As a result, sometimes the debate over Iraq is cast as a disagreement between those who want to keep our troops in Iraq and those who want to bring our troops home. And this is not the real debate. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t want to see the day when our brave service men and women can start coming home. In my address to the nation in January, I put it this way: "If we increase our support at this crucial moment, we can hasten the day when our troops can begin coming home."

The real debate over Iraq is between those who think that the fight is lost or not worth the cost and those who believe that the fight can be won and that as difficult as the fight is, the cost of defeat would be far higher. I believe that we can succeed in Iraq and I know we must. So we are working to defeat al Qaeda and other extremists and aid the rise of an Iraqi government that can protect it’s people, deliver basic services and be an ally in the war against these extremists and radicals.

By doing this we will create the conditions that will allow our troops to begin coming home while securing our long term national interests in Iraq and in the region. When we start drawing down our forces in Iraq it will be because our military commanders say the conditions on the ground are right, not because pollsters say that it will be good politics."

In an answer to a reporter’s question, Bush said, "I don’t think that Congress should be running the war. I think they ought to be funding our troops."

President Bush was still answering questions at the White House when Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., responded. "It is time for the president to listen to the American people and do what is necessary to protect this nation. That means admitting his Iraq policy has failed, working with the Democrats and Republicans in Congress on crafting a new way forward in Iraq, and refocusing our collective efforts on defeating al Qaeda," he said in a statement.

Can conservatives ever win big again?

In 1994, with the "Contract with America," conservatives finally ushered in a majority in both the Congress and the Senate. It had been 40 years of Democrat control.

By 1996, Newt and his Congress had not cut government spending in the way that consevatives wanted, so they decided to throw most of them out.  In their minds Newt had utterly failed.  The Republican Party lost many seats that year and the losses continued in 1998.  By then Newt had resigned because of an affair.

It is very difficult to get conservative issues advanced in Washington.  The Democrats have the entire media on their side and the conservative media gets frustrated too quickly and decides to nitpick every issue.

From 1998 on, conservatives continued to lose seats during every election cycle and by the time Bush became president, Republicans had only narrow majorities even though they managed keep control of both Houses in 2002 and 2004.  The problem is that the "gang of 14," a group of RHINOs, now had more power since conservative seats were the ones lost.

By 2006, conservatives were as mad at Bush as they had been at Newt, so Democrats gained back their majorities in both Houses.  The "Conservative Revolution" had officially ended.  The Republican party is now split and many claim to be conservatives and not Republicans.

Can anyone lead a new conservative movement back into power, or has the "conservative revolution" died a slow and agonizing death?

How can Bush win in Iraq now?

At below 30% in the polls how can the war time president win on this crucial front in the War on Terror?

The handwriting seems to be on the wall.  The Democrats have always been against the war in Iraq, but now Republicans are beginning to fold.  And what about talk radio?  Laura Ingraham said today that Bush squandered all of his good will with what he did on immigration.

Rush said yesterday that last week’s comments by a top Al Qaeda leader demonstrate that we are winning in Iraq.  He stated that the White House will have to get out and explain this to the public.  And then he added, “talk radio can’t help them with this.”

I beg your pardon, but talk radio has been a prime reason the President is so discredited.  No one is listening to the White House now.  The surge that was just implemented is beginning to work, but the public is simply not aware of this.  Congress is moving forward on troop withdrawal deadlines before the September deadline for a report on the new strategy!

When the entire media (conservative and liberal) turns on a President during a time of war, and the opposing party wins the midterm elections and begins 300 investigations of the White House in 100 days, what chance does the Commander in Chief have to be successful in fighting terror?

If we lose in Iraq, who will really be to blame?

A false sense of security.

For many years I owned a condominium that overlooked a beautiful golf course.  One day the homeowners got together to talk about building a fence around the complex with automated gates at the front entrance.  We were beginning to experience burglaries on our property.  Also of concern was a motel that had recently been built across the street from us.  Rumor had it that there was prostitution and drug dealing going on there.

One of the owners volunteered to check into the cost and feasibility of a fence.  After extensive research we found out that the cost to each of the homeowners would be almost prohibitive.  Someone suggested that we have a police representative come to a homeowners meeting and talk to us about whether we would in fact be more protected after spending so much money.

The Officer that came to give us safety advice said that unless we had guards or cameras monitoring the fence, there would be little enhanced protection.  He said that it would actually give us a false sense of security because people can easily get over fences.  And, the golf course provided plenty of places for people to hide.

He suggested that we put together a neighborhood watch, install more lighting on the golf course side, and call the police when we saw any suspicious activity.  He also said that he could have the police patrol the parking lot several times during the night.

With our neighborhood watch we became better neighbors, were safer, and saved a lot of money in the process. We realized that by working with each other and with the police we had a real sense of security, not a false one.

Ingraham declares the Libby commutation won't help Bush.

This morning on her radio talk show, Laura Ingraham said the following about the President’s decision to commute the prison sentence of Scooter Libby: " The people that hate Bush will still hate him. This will do nothing to help the dispirited base."

Bill Bennett, host of "Morning in America," was a guest on her show and he added: "I wish that Bush had gone all the way. The Administration started this whole mess."

Most in talk radio will probably agree with the comments made by Ingraham and Bennett.  Why does this not surprise me?  President Bush used the power of the Presidency and went over the heads of the "loud voices," and made the decision that he thinks is best.

Tony Snow in a news conference this morning said:  "President Bush doesn't look at this decision as a favor to anyone."

The War against Bush.

Liberals and conservatives are at war with our President.  The Democrats are trying to dismantle everything that the President has put in place to fight terrorism and keep this country safe.  Senator Leahy on “Meet the Press” this morning said that he will continue to issue subpoenas to the White House concerning the firings of several Attorney’s General and Bush’s terrorist surveillance program.  The Democrat controlled Congress is doing everything in it's power to discredit our Commander in Chief and his administration.

Talk radio began it’s war on the President prior to the 2006 elections, and now is declaring  victory in the stunning defeat of the President’s immigration reform bill, which the White House claims was needed to enhance it’s fight against terrorism.

America is slowly returning to the pre 9/11 mentality.  It is ironic that the very President that both conservatives and liberals are constantly deriding, has kept the country safe since the surprise attacks that killed close to 3,000 Americans nearly 6 years ago.  As Charles Krauthammer has said, the Bush Administration is the victim of it's own success.

The people fighting the President don’t trust the administration even though it has performed heroically to protect it’s citizens from another attack.  The events in London over the last two days should be a wake up call.  Unfortunately, after watching the Sunday Talk Shows today, America is too comfortable to realize the dangers ahead.   Michael Chertoff, the director of Homeland Security, made brief appearances on a couple of the shows, but that was about it.

Meanwhile, our enemies are watching.  They see us losing our will.  They see us fighting each other.  They see us letting our guard down.  They see us turning against our own President.  And they prepare...
