Freedom to teach?

The American Association of University Professors (AAUP) is convinced that it is time take back the classroom on behalf of academic freedom. They are concerned about the recent trend in which conservatives have begun to question the liberal one sided education that students are exposed to in our institutions of higher learning.

"Conservative ideologues (whose names escape me at the moment) have tried, in recent years, to redefine “academic freedom” as a shield that protects conservative students from the opinions and convictions of their professors; they have introduced bills in state legislatures that would mandate “intellectual diversity” in college courses and curricula — presumably to give conservative interpretations of The Rise of Silas Lapham and White Noise a fair hearing, or perhaps to require the assignment of texts more congenial to the conservative world view." Read more: Freedom in the classroom

The problem is that conservative teachers are not able to express conservative ideas in the classroom. I believe that Hannity and others who are exposing liberal professors are getting some traction. We need to keep focusing on this. It's time to take back the classroom from the liberal educators who are brainwashing our youth.

Take a deep breath, Chris Matthews.

The other day I was surfing channels and had to stop on Hardball, which I never watch. By the look on Chris’ face I thought that something major had happened, perhaps another terrorist attack.

Matthews and a group of panelists were having conniptions over a statement that Bush made in a recent interview. When asked what he was looking forward to in retirement, he said, "making money from speeches." Chris and his guests were accusing the President of planning to profit from the deaths of our soldiers in Iraq.

I’m familiar with Bush’s sense of humor and imagine that he was cracking a joke. But let’s say he was serious. I’m very sorry to break it to you, Chris, but ex-Presidents do make money from speeches. Bush will not be an exception because he sent troops to war.

So, Chris, take a deep breath and repeat after me: "Bush sent troops to war, people lived." Another breath and exhale, "Bush killed terrorists, people lived." Now picture yourself lying on a beach, "Bush wiretapped terrorists, people lived." Get the picture? These meditations might keep you from having a heart attack at the thought of Mr. Bush being paid for speeches in the many years to come.

The fact is that "W" will be an ex-President, with all the perks, no matter how much you and the Democrats wish it weren’t so.

Chuck Schumer should resign now!

How dare Mr. Schumer stand on the Senate floor and attack our troops? His statement that our brave soldiers are not the reason for the successful surge in Iraq is a complete betrayal of our military.

While Republicans are focused on Craig’s resignation, the Democrats are getting away with lies that could cause us to lose the War in Iraq.

Where is the outrage over a Party that will betray our country and our military just to win an election? Who is going to have the courage to stand on the Senate floor and speak the truth about the cowardice and lies of the entire Democrat Party?  Who is going to call on Schumer to resign for his treasonous statement?

He who is without sin.

The Republican Party is the party of family values and morality. Therefore every Republican in office or running for office must be without sin.

The Democrats will be watching. If you are a sinner, beware. There is no place you can go to hide. Even the suggestion of impropriety is evidence of guilt. If there is no smoking gun, you must be investigated until one is found.

If you are guilty, no apology will suffice. You are a hypocrite, for you stand for morality yet were unable to live up to it in your own life.

Republicans, resign from office now if you are guilty of any sin!
